In 1963, (Alden) Gene Lake founded Union Fab & Machine Co. After the immediate success of Union Fab, Gene recognized the local needs for a structural steel construction company. So in 1965, Gene founded A.V. Lake Steel Company. It wasn’t long before A.V. Lake Steel became a success as well. Over the years, both companies realized major growth working independently of each other. However, for business purposes, they were eventually merged into one which became known as AV Lake Construction Company. With success comes growth and transition, so after a few moves around Sandusky Ohio over the many years, the company now permanently resides in the Lake Industrial Complex located at 3427 Venice Rd, Sandusky Ohio 44870.
